The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OU HSC) is one of the nation's few academic health centers with all health-related colleges - Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and the Graduate College.  OU HSC serves approximately 4,000 students in more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs on campuses in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. We are looking for an EHR Applications Analyst to join our team!

Duties:

  • The EHR Application Analyst will assist in the development, support and functionality roll out of an Electronic Health Record system
  • Assists the organization in optimizing their workflow processes through building applications that are tailored to meet the organizations needs
  • Responsible for learning the EHR systems capabilities and functional use and apply knowledge of Healthcare Business workflow to assist in the implementation of a system that meets process needs
  • Participates in all phases of the system development life cycle including development of use cases and evaluation of software solutions
  • Develops, configures, and modifies moderately complex information systems
  • Creates documentation of business requirements, current and future state workflows
  • Designs, codes, configures, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains program applications
  • Coordinates all testing phases of associated applications during implements and upgrades
  • Supports existing functionality with future expansion to additional areas
  • Develops strong relationships with end user communities, customers, and business partners
  • Utilizes best practices for use within the organization
  • Provides hands-on training as needed for end users
  • Serves as a key onsite EHR IT resource for facility implementation and support of a broad set of healthcare applications
  • Act as project manager for low to medium complex projects
  • Provides second level support as a broad EHR subject matter expert to resolve incidents or fulfill requests
  • Serves as project leader for implementations of EHR applications software releases and new products
  • Works with the team to lead, monitor, and facilitate new module application testing
  • Provides input to policies and procedures, training, and best practices for use within the organization and works with the team and facility core team members to deliver hands-on training as needed
  • Participates in meetings as a member of organizational leadership as required
  • Builds strong relationships with core customer base and facility leadership
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position
 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field

 

Experience: 12 months applicable IT or clinical experience

 

Equivalency: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 60 months experience

 

Certifications: EHR Certification is required within 3 months of class completion

 

Skills:

  •  Ability to work independently and within teams
  •  Ability to solve complex problems and understand customer needs
  •  Strong understanding of healthcare business process and technology
  •  Basic understanding of healthcare workflows and terminology
  •  Working knowledge of IT solutions and interfacing a plus
  •  Must be able to drive to assigned sites to complete work
  •  Must be able to travel in state on occasion
Working Conditions:
  • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time.  Manual dexterity.  Speaking, reaching, bending, standing and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental:  Office environment.
