Summary

The Kommagani laboratory in the Department of Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine seeking candidate for a Research Assistant position. Selected candidate will become an active member of a research team to focus on gynecological pathology research. The task involve in providing responsible technical assistance to support research projects by performing basic molecular and cell biology related techniques.

Job Duties

  • Assists multi-disciplinary research team to conduct basic research tasks.
  • Performs routine molecular and cell biology techniques including genotyping, western blotting, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Assists in overall laboratory functioning, including ordering and mouse colony maintenance.
  • Performs additional duties related to the ongoing research efforts of the laboratory.
  • Collects, and appropriately documents experimental results.
  • Maintains detailed records of research activities, including enrollment and sample collection.
  • Assists with maintaining and organizing the laboratory area in a orderly condition.
  • Designs and conducts research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Provides assistance to other member of laboratory and others from collaborative work. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience. Experience with rodent work is plus.
