The position will be responsible for education and community outreach for Ball State Public Media (Ball State PBS and Indiana Public Radio). This position will ensure diverse educational programming using best practices to support learning for children and adults, with particular attention to early childhood education opportunities in underserved areas of East Central Indiana.

Job Function:

The position will be responsible for education and community outreach for Ball State Public Media (Ball State PBS and Indiana Public Radio). This position will ensure diverse educational programming using best practices to support learning for children and adults, with particular attention to early childhood education opportunities in underserved areas of East Central Indiana.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience:

• At least five years of experience in formal or informal PK-12 education
• At least two years of supervisory experience

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity or experience with public media education content
• Experience facilitating online/virtual learning trainings or events for educators or PK- 12 students
• Experience administering budgets, including pre-award and post-award grant processes

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee Ready To Learn grant-funded project (through 2025) which includes training and professional development with PBS/CPB; facilitation of workshops for childcare providers, families, and children; training of RTL staff, as needed, and meeting all grant deliverables including monthly reporting, maintaining a budget, offering workshops and other opportunities, and attending all required meetings.
  • Identify and deepen partnerships with diverse community and Ball State University stakeholders to support education initiatives. Partner with BSU Office of Community Engagement staff to leverage resources effectively in community engagement.
  • Create and manage budgets for all community education activities.
  • Oversee the management of all other existing education programs, whilst collaborating across departments.
  • Contribute to the planning and development of Ball State PBS and Indiana Public Radio education content and community engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising team to secure funding for educational programs, content, and events; work with the marketing team on the promotion of education-related events.
  • Gather and write content for web pages, social media platforms, and station materials about community education initiatives.
  • Supervise PMX Accelerator Fellow (Ball State University student), as assigned.
  • Deliver community education content and materials to partners, providers, and community members.
  • Represent Ball State Public Media at education focused meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
