OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are looking for a Dir. Assistant Facilities Management for Construction Services to join our team. This position supervises and coordinates work of Facilities Management Shops, as well as job scheduling and maintenance, communicates with customers, establishes estimates, works with architects and engineers and inspects construction sites. 

Duties:

  • Coordinates projects involving major renovations and/or alterations to campus buildings
  • Serves as liaison among Facilities Management, campus departments, and external contractors for coordination and scheduling construction projects (excludes new construction)
  • Visits work site to determine necessary resources. Inspects projects to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
  • Responsible for job coordination and scheduling and establishing estimates.
  • Reviews blueprints and plans, and trouble logs
  • Directs the work and allocates human resources to maintenance and construction jobs. Supervises shop foremen.
  • Coordinates oversee and inspect work sites to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. Works with internal and external architects and engineers. Serves as primary contact for departments requesting work.
  • Stays abreast of changing technology, construction practices, construction materials, safety codes, and passes on this information to all appropriate personnel.
  • Provides on-call for emergencies and trouble calls.
  • Assists the Assoc Director/Asst VP in developing and implementing new departmental operations policies.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Sciences, Engineering or Architecture or related field

Experience: 48 months experience in facilities with a thorough knowledge of (carpentry, plumbing, electric, or HVAC-related areas) and 24 months management/supervisory experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively
  • Environmental: Exposure to extreme weather. Visiting job sites. Works in stressful conditions and meets deadlines.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Knowledge of facility maintenance and construction knowledge of estimating, work control, and reading blueprints
