Summary

The University of Michigan is looking for a collaborative professional to join us as the Manager of Benefits Systems Support. This position offers an exciting and rewarding opportunity to collaborate with internal partners and vendors in the analysis and design of information technology system enhancements to support benefit plan operations.

The Manager of Benefits Systems Support will report to the Benefits Director of Operations and provide leadership to a team of analysts responsible for operational reporting and analytic support to ensure plan compliance.

Responsibilities*

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the University's benefit eligibility rules and system capabilities to ensure benefit plan enrollment and deduction accuracy
Collaborate with internal and external partners to configure systems and develop processes to support the University's benefit policies
Maintain an understanding of regulatory requirements to ensure supported systems remain compliant
Manage vendor relationships and processes necessary to support enrollment and regulatory requirements
Manage delivery of reports, analyses, and dashboards relating to employee benefit enrollment
Provide leadership on process improvement projects
Direct the activities of staff engaged in systems and data support
Required Qualifications*

Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting a large organization’s human resources systems including employee benefit programs
Minimum of 5 years serving as a liaison between functional experts and information technology staff and/or vendors implementing system enhancements to support business policy and/or regulations
Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefit’s program components, such as vendor contract, premium structure, enrollment, and government regulations
Analyze complex information and present a concise synopsis based on audience
Familiarity with query writing software, querying relational databases, and applying analytical tools/techniques
Experience with coaching and mentoring high-performing individuals
Demonstrated experience using process improvement tools
