Summary

The Research Assistant Senior will carry out a variety of laboratory procedures including DNA/RNA/protein extraction,  electrophoresis, PCR, qPCR, western blot, molecular cloning, cell culture, histology, mouse colony maintenance, mouse behavioral tests, mouse surgeries, mouse metabolic tests, or bioinformatics analysis of omics data and single cell data.e.

Job Duties

  • Documents results and prepares them for presentations.
  • Designs and conducts research experiments.
  • Summarizes research findings and write manuscripts to publish in research journals.
  • Prepares buffers and reagents for laboratory operations.
  • Manages circadian chambers, microscope, optogenetic instrument, cryotanks, and refrigerators.
  • Performs RNA/DNA extraction and tissue culture, PCR, Western blotting, and other routine lab assays.
  • Performs histological procedures: tissue preparation, slide preparation, IHC/IF staining.
  • Performs surgery, behavioral and metabolic testings in living animals
  • Performs omics analysis and interpretation (RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, metabolomics, etc)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. 
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in a basic science area or a related field.
  • We are seeking a candidate who has good experimental skills in a broad area of animal research.
