Job Description

The Versiti, Inc., Blood Research Institute (VBRI) is seeking to recruit a researcher at a level equivalent to Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek an innovative researcher with the capacity to develop and sustain a vigorous independent research program. Strong candidates in all areas of immunology, particularly in the areas of autoimmunity, lymphocyte biology, innate immunity and cellular therapies are especially encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will join a collaborative team of immunologists with expertise in autoimmunity, signal transduction, B cell biology, lymphocyte development, NK cell biology, and immune regulation.

Versiti is a private, not-for-profit organization that specializes in diagnostic testing, medical services and leading-edge basic and clinical and translational research. The VBRI currently houses 25 principal investigators with a significant expansion of its research capacity planned, adding 18 new PIs over a 5–7-year period. Designs for a new 60,000 – 80,000 ft2 research building are under development, with completion anticipated for early 2025. The VBRI is located on the same campus as the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and Froedtert Hospital, which facilitates collaboration, provides additional research breadth, including immunology, and enables access to graduate students. VBRI faculty typically hold an appointment at MCW, including clinical departments, to facilitate basic and translational research, aided by membership in the Center for Immunology and Cancer Center.

Who are we looking for?
Eligible candidates will have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Successful candidates will have track records of creativity and productivity, a desire to integrate into our exciting, collaborative, and growing community of researchers, and a dedication to contributing to our diversity and openness values. They will be expected to develop a productive and innovative research program, obtain extramural funding, and participate actively in education, training, and mentorship. The VBRI will attract, design, and retain a diverse workforce and faculty body that reflects the community we serve. We believe that societal change requires actions, not words, and are deeply committed to diversity of backgrounds, experiences, and thought to advance excellence in science and medicine.

How do you apply?
Qualified applicants should submit a single pdf containing a cover letter, CV, summary of research accomplishments and future research plans (four pages maximum), and names and contact information for up to four references to be sent to Bonnie Dittel, PhD, Chair, Immunology Search Committee [email protected]. Versiti is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty and strongly encourages applications from individuals in groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences.
