The Department of Mathematics at Rider University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin fall 2023. Rider is a private university located near Princeton, NJ, and within easy driving distance or train ride to New York City and Philadelphia.
Responsibilities for this position will include teaching nine credit hours per semester, directing the department’s Actuarial Science Program, engaging in scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publications, and participating in departmental and university committees.
Expectations with respect to the Actuarial Science Program will include teaching upper-level probability & statistics courses, mentoring undergraduate research projects, undergraduate advising, career placement support, contributing to student recruitment and retention, and administrative responsibility for the program.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for the undergraduate experience and a commitment to excellence in their teaching and research. Applicants who can bring their enthusiasm for mathematics into courses for majors and non-majors, as well as introductory and upper-level courses are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Requirements

A Ph.D. in Mathematics is required. Evidence of potential for both excellence in research and high-quality teaching is required.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Individuals with expertise and experience in actuarial science are preferred. Post-doctoral and college-level teaching experience is also preferred.
