The Department of Performing Arts at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in music, Director of Bands, starting in July 2023.
Job Duties
This tenure-track position includes a full-time workload of 12 hours per semester that includes directing the Symphonic Band, the Wildcat Marching Band (fall) and the Pep Band (spring) as well as teaching other classes and/or applied lessons as determined by expertise and departmental need. The successful candidate will also participate in student recruitment, scholarship or creative performance, student advising, and university service.
Required Qualifications
Doctorate (terminal) degree with an emphasis in Music (ABD considered; degree must be earned by July 1, 2023)
Experience directing a wind ensemble and/or concert band
Experience directing a marching band
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching or conducting at the college level
Experience teaching Woodwind, Brass, or Percussion methods courses

The annual salary for this position starts at $55,000 and may go up from there depending on the candidate’s qualifications. The position comes with a generous benefits package.
