Assistant Technical Services Librarian

Schusterman Library at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa

 

The Schusterman Library at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa seeks to hire an Assistant Technical Services Librarian to be a part of our dynamic team of librarians, library staff, and graduate research assistants. This Librarian will work collaboratively to provide assistance in the management and implementation of technical services and electronic resources. As a member of the Library Executive Team, the Assistant Technical Services Librarian will be an integral part of implementing the mission and vision of the Schusterman Library. The Assistant Technical Services Librarian is a full-time staff position that reports to the Technical Services Librarian of the Schusterman Library.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports acquisition, cataloging, processing, maintenance, and deselection of monographs and print serials.
  • Assists in collection preservation, conservation, and space planning.
  • Collects and maintains statistical records.
  • Assists in digitization projects on behalf of the library.
  • Assists in the management of the library online catalog and bibliographic databases.
  • Continues to grow professionally by participating in professional development activities, such as attending professional conferences and workshops and reading professional literature.
  • Staffs library service desks as needed.
  • Works on additional initiatives dependent on Library needs / candidate’s interest and expertise.

Position Requirements

 

Education:

  • Required: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited university.
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited university with the ability to complete within 6 months after hire date.

 

Experience:

  • Required: One year of experience working in a library setting.
  • Required: Six months of experience working with one or more of the following: library services platforms, cataloging, collection development, collection maintenance.
  • Preferred: One year of experience working in an academic or medical library setting.

 

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of library cataloging.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, and organize projects and follow them through to completion.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

 

Salary: $47,500 annually
