Position Focus:

Reporting to the Dean of International and Professional Experience, the Director provides information, analysis, and visual data representation for key decision-making within the CIPE and, where needed, across Yale College. They will utilize multiple University data sources to extract, merge, and collect relevant data, staying abreast of relevant issues and concerns at Yale and across the broader domain of higher education. They will guide annual and project reporting of all kinds, including data gathering for periodic reaccreditation, directing relevant activities of staff in all divisions. Developing assessment tools using recognized and also innovative models, the Director will develop a strategy for using evidence-based practices to plan and assess our work. They will plan and implement strategies for effective communication of many different kinds of information to student, faculty, administrative and external audiences using graphic and text-based modalities. In collaboration with the CIPE and Yale College leadership teams they will prepare and implement a strategic plan for consistent and reliable measurement and reporting of educational and investment outcomes. Linking programmatic initiatives with outreach activities, the Director will create a strategy and implementation plan to guide new and ongoing initiatives designed to reach and be accessible to all Yale College students, in cooperation with divisions across Yale College. To accomplish this they will lead teams across divisions and supervise staff and student workers as needed. The Director will provide analytic support for a wide range of committee and administrative projects. They will guide teams to deliver annual reporting and assessment for such initiatives as Freshman Scholars at Yale, the Visiting International Student Program, and the Summer Experience Award.

Essential Duties:

1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated ability to identify evidence needs, perform quantitative and qualitative data analyses and use the results to create innovative and useful informational tools, and to produce excellent visualizations of data.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Interest in and knowledge of current issues and national and international practices in higher education assessment.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Proven ability to guide strategic planning and to manage projects and to guide teams in completing and using the results of evidence-based analysis to improve work.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Proven interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex statistical information to non-technical audiences.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Appreciation and respect for principles of diversity, equity and inclusion. Ability to engage with diverse individuals (age, gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, profession, sexual orientation etc.).

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Advanced degree with relevant coursework strongly preferred. Experience in developing survey and assessment strategies for measuring impact and outcomes and demonstrated success in developing accessible tools to convey data-based evidence to a range of audiences.
