The Shared Business Services Center (SBSC) is seeking a Payroll/HR Team Manager! This position serves in a leadership role on our team of highly motivated, customer-service driven individuals. The SBSC Payroll/HR team manager is responsible for supervising, training and mentoring a continuously growing team of specialists. Our office works remotely approximately four days per week, while reporting to campus at least one day per week. We utilize several tools that allow us to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Qualified candidates should have a strong understanding of educational institutions and/or HR/payroll processes or have experience working in an organization with similar functions/processes. Having experience with PeopleSoft, federal, state and institutional policies are a plus!

Duties:

  • Oversees and ensures daily operations run smoothly - These duties include but are not limited to personnel action forms for new hires, terminations, FTE/pay rate changes, position descriptions, funding changes, payroll cost transfers, job postings, reporting and analysis, problem solving and critical thinking
  • Ensures deadlines are met, while also being willing to jump in and help the whole team
  • Manages and supports all payroll/HR specialists
  • Onboards and trains new specialists
  • Troubleshoots payroll issues in timely, courteous and effective manner
  • Serves as the liaison to our departments, colleges, and central offices
  • Assigns work loads, dispatches daily requests that come in, as well as covers workloads while staff are out of office or there are vacancies
 

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree

Skills:

  • Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively
  • Working knowledge of financial or accounting to include analysis, auditing, and budgeting
  • Ability to understand a chart of accounts and code entries to proper account
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Ability to egage in repetitive motion and communicate effectively
  • Environmental: Standard office environment

Departmental Preferences:

  • 24-48 months experience in payroll/HR and/or financial related field OR
  • 24-48 months experience working in higher education 

Supervision: 15+ Staff
