Job Description

Grade 9 £53,353 to £61,823, with flexibility to appoint up to £67,540 p.a. depending on experience.

This role will be a hybrid worker - with the balance of on-campus and remote working to be agreed with the Director of Strategy & Planning.

Do you have the knowledge, skills and experience to lead the institution-wide evolution and professionalisation of our business intelligence and data analytics capabilities? Are you able to consult with and build consensus across a wide range of senior stakeholders and harness a broad-based community of experts to drive forward and deliver transformational change at both a service and an institutional level?

The University of Leeds is one of the top 135 universities in the world.  We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities.  Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

With a focus on enabling the realisation of the University’s strategic ambition, you will have leadership responsibility for enabling evidence-based strategic decision-making across the institution. In parallel to ensuring the continuity of a broad range of business critical strategic and regulatory analytical and reporting activities, you will lead the continued evolution of our business intelligence and data analytics (BIDA) service, ensuring this is aligned with changing internal and external demands, and our wider institutional transformational change programmes. Drawing on your established leadership skills, alongside your expertise of higher education (HE) datasets and analytical tools, you will work in collaboration with senior stakeholders and domain experts across the University community to lead the development and implementation of a cross-institutional integrated and coherent approach to data analytics and reporting.

With leadership and management responsibility for an expert team of data analysts, you will also work in partnership with other senior leaders to secure the supply of high quality business data for both strategic and regulatory data analytics and reporting purposes, and to ensure that the technological infrastructure  that supports the BIDA service is stable and secure and, aligned with the IT roadmap, is migrated to the Cloud.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an individual with the vision, energy and commitment to deliver strategic change and deliver positive institutional impact.
