The Assistant Director of the Center for Diversity & Inclusion provides critical leadership in the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion for students on campus. The Assistant Director will support overarching Center priorities including the design and implementation of specific advocacy and support for historically marginalized students (inclusive of all forms of identity, such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, and expression, national origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, ability, age, etc.), the design and implementation of intentional educational programming (e.g. programs, events, workshops, and dialogues) to raise awareness and competency of students in support of multicultural and global understanding, and collaborative outreach and support for staff across other functional areas in Student Affairs to integrate multicultural competency, and facilitation of conversations on power and privilege, in their individual programs. The Assistant Director will have direct leadership for and involvement in developing and overseeing mentoring programs to support students of color, efforts to support the LGBTQIA+ community, connecting and supporting multicultural student organizations, supporting the Multicultural Student Leadership Institute (MSLI), and advancing awareness and educational programming.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Organizational Leadership, or related field with 2-3 years’ experience in a related position preferred. Knowledge and understanding of student development, organizational perspectives of inclusion work, and an appreciation of the complexities of inter/intra cultural interaction. Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, budgeting, assessment, and management skills. Ability to develop and deliver educational programming to students to address the complexities of privilege and oppression and appreciation of all aspects of social identity and their intersectionality. Technology skills necessary to facilitate the work, including being adept at advanced Excel, Qualtrics, and Zoom. Desire and ability to work with diverse student populations. Flexibility with work schedule is necessary, as weekends and evenings are required.
