Position Description

Rider University invites applications for an Accountant who is a vital member of the Accounting Office, working collaboratively with members within the Finance Division, as well as other members of the University to perform day-to-day functions and achieve the strategic goals of the division and University. 
 
Specifically, the individual will be responsible for:
 
  • Preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and reports related to its cash and investment activities;
  • Performing monthly bank reconciliations for several ZBA and depository accounts;
  • Verify the activity for various eCommerce platforms to bank accounts to ensure everything has posted accurately to the general ledger and the bank. 
  • Preparing daily cash reports.
  • Preparing, disbursing, and coordinating all of the daily cash transactions for entry into general ledger; 
  • Reviewing monthly petty cash reimbursements for proper accounting information and in accordance with University policy;
  • Preparing and reconciling supporting schedules and reports applicable to investments, including annuities and endowments; and
  • Other complex accounting duties as assigned by management based on Finance Division needs.
 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required with an emphasis in accounting or business is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively use a PC with Excel, Microsoft Word, accounting, and banking software. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to operate independently, prioritize and organize own work schedule, multi-task, and meet established deadlines.

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting
