Job Description

This position would act as a counselor/therapist and would advocate for and promote equity for all students, especially those who have been or feel discriminated against, disenfranchised, or unwelcomed. This may include but is not limited to the LGBTQIA+ community, students of minority races or ethnicities, or students with a minority religious view. The position assists students in accessing resources and accessing educational resources. The successful candidate will communicate with a variety of persons without prejudice and in a caring and empathic way. The counselor or therapist provides therapy and counseling services to students who are part of the College and Career Readiness programs as part of the College of Technology, and completes documentation of each session with clients in a timely manner. Key responsibilities include:

• Provide mental health and career counseling to START students and students associated with the College of Technology at ISU, as well as the possibility of community members
• Provide counseling services on the Pocatello campus and possibly in outreach areas of Blackfoot and/or American Falls
• Potential for teaching related self-help or support classes, facilitating workshops and presentations, and conducting group counseling
• Potential need to assist students or clients in meeting educational and/or employment goals

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
• Professional counselor licensure in Idaho (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor licensure in Idaho (LCPC), Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) in Idaho, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Idaho, OR Licensed Psychologist in the state of Idaho
• If unlicensed, must be able to obtain licensure within 3 months of hire date
• Experience in working in higher education and grant writing
• Background in planning, organizing, and implementing educational programs
• Experience or in providing mental health and career counseling services to individuals or groups
• Knowledge of equity issues
• Excellent oral, written, and computer skills
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Ability to work as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in providing counseling or therapy services for at-risk students or adults in a higher education (postsecondary) setting

Additional Information

Salary will be between $50,000 and $55,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
