Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
For this position, employees must have at least one of the following: 

1. Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early  childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education; OR 
2.  Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in social work, educational  supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural  education, life management/ home economics, family life studies or family and consumer  studies from an accredited college or university; OR 
3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR 
4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above.

Desired Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of expertise on the basis of: 
· An earned undergraduate or graduate degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university with primary coursework being focused on early childhood education. 
· Demonstrated ability to develop and contribute to an integrated, lab-based child development program at the secondary or post-secondary level. 
· Work experience as a teacher in a developmentally appropriate setting for young children ages 0-8 years of age. 
· Work experience as a site supervisor/program director in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) setting. 
· Recent teaching experience at the college or university level. 
· Knowledge of and an ability to integrate instructional technology in the classroom and to be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and student learning through diverse delivery modes as appropriate. 
· Expertise in culturally responsive teaching in child development and education, particularly as it relates to the preparation of prospective early childhood and elementary educators to implement culturally and linguistically responsive practices in their future classrooms; demonstrated ability to address equity gaps of minoritized groups within child development and education; Recent experience working with diverse student populations (e.g. African American/Black, Latinx/[email protected]/Hispanic, gender/sexual orientation, age , ability level, and other marginalized groups).
