UAFS’ beautiful 170-acre campus features 20 major buildings and the Donald W. Reynolds Campus Plaza, Tower, and Campus Green. The University opened a 58,000 square-foot visual arts facility in the fall of 2015. A student-supported recreation and wellness center, featuring a rock-climbing wall, basketball, and volleyball courts, and state-of-the-art equipment, opened in the fall of 2016. Such projects initiated the 15-year transformation of the campus in accordance with the University’s updated master plan. These two buildings complement the University’s top-notch amenities across campus, including a newly renovated library that boasts expansive areas for student use and vast collections of literature and academic resources.

About the College / Department
Position Summary
Responsible for the design, administration and evaluation of academic support services to improve academic success and retention. Will provide leadership to the staff and develop processes to support retention efforts across campus. The Director is responsible for the routine operation of the Academic Success Center (ASC); mentoring and supervising staff; overseeing tutoring and academic coaching programs; and assessing the effectiveness of support services and implementing modifications as needed. Other responsibilities include coordinating test administration for web-based courses; monitoring the ASC web pages; presenting workshops about ASC services; assisting with testing services for students with ADA accommodations; and providing coverage and support in the ASC as needed and other duties as assigned. The position is governed by the policies of the institution. The Director reports to the Associate Provost.

Summary of Job Duties
• Recruit, manage, and retain program staff that provide and evaluate academic support services for UAFS students
• Collaborate with other campus units to research, design, implement, and evaluate academic support services to improve retention and graduation rates at UAFS
• Coordinate and supervise the tutor placement process, the online tutoring program, and academic coaching that will lead to academic success and implement modifications based on student needs
• Analyze data, prepare annual reports, and provide input for and management of budget allocated to the ASC
• Provide positive, effective leadership to promote continuous improvement, develop collegial relationships with other departments, and handle all situations in a professional manner
• Monitor the ASC website, design training and marketing brochures, and ensure computer software is maintained to support course and testing needs
• Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing all other duties as requested or assigned
• Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or other related field with strong job-related experience; one-three years’ supervisory experience; and three years’ administrative experience in higher education with academic support, student retention, and/or instruction. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these basic requirements.
