Job Summary/Basic Function:
This internship in the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology department will provide a motivated student the opportunity to gain experience and hone their skills in modern translational/clinical/bioinformatics analysis of “Big Data”. The student will have the opportunity to learn and apply tools for modeling and visualization of clinical and experimental data.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills required. Must be professional, team oriented, and personable. Familiar with Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and some exposure to clinical and research data through spreadsheet, database exposure or statistical analysis programs.
Minimum Degree Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Hours: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. Summer positions typically are from the beginning of June to the end of July.
Some college coursework completed in applied mathematics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or computer science a plus. Strong computer skills preferred. Exposure to analysis/visualizations in R, Tableu, Spotfire, SAS, STATA, SPSS or with Prism (GraphPad). Bioinformatics using GEO, Ingenuity, Reactome or similar ontology tools for deeper inquiry about functional associations helpful.
Regularly moves about the work environment, talks, hears and listens. Occasionally lifts or moves up to 10 pounds. Requires the ability to see. The noise level and typical work conditions are consistent with an office environment.
