Job Summary
University Human Resources is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Director Labor Relations - Staff HR.

You Will:

Lead a segment of university-wide labor relations, serving as the university’s chief spokesperson in labor contract negotiations and issues of contract implementation and administration for designated bargaining units.
Consult with a variety of university departments on a broad spectrum of operational and human resource topics.
Report to the Senior Director Human Resources and collaborate with a team of colleagues and unit partners committed to positively influencing the employee relations climate to support the university's missions.
You Have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
Eight or more years experience in labor and employee relations, including key roles in contract negotiations and union-management relationships. Experience in higher education, health care or similarly complex mission-driven organization preferred.
Three or more years experience applying interest-based approaches to issue resolution and contract negotiations.
Working knowledge of relevant labor and employment law.

Responsibilities*
Job Responsibilities include:

Negotiate labor agreements. Manage bargaining teams and bargaining process.

Maintain relationships with union leadership, and university and operational leaders.

Identify implications of emerging issues and university priorities and contribute to the development of potential responses.

Engage centers of expertise for input into bargaining priorities and implementation of bargaining agreements.

Consult with managers and staff to address performance, conduct and climate issues.

Conduct investigations and hearings. Authorize employment actions. Participate in external complaint proceedings.

Calibrate policy and practice issues with colleagues.
