Job Description

Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications needed to handle the communications and marketing at a prestigious, accredited university with a campuses in South Florida. This is a confidential opening. You will be responsible for marketing, strategic and corporate communications, media and public relations, and brand development and design. You will work closely with the Vice President of Philanthropy & Communications, the Chief of Staff and the University President.

As our Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications, you will utilize direct marketing, social networking, video, print, web, email and the news media to support the University’s mission and goals. In addition, you will be responsible for:

• Writing, distributing and following-up on press releases to local, national and international media outlets regarding University events and programs.
• Preparing social media messages in support of press releases, responding to questions from the media, and consulting with university department heads on the production and content of press material.
• Developing and implementing a public relations strategy that includes regularly pitching story ideas to media on programs and events.
• Producing and maintaining a Media Guide (hard copy and online) to promote faculty and staff as media experts for news stories.
• Developing and implementing marketing strategies and messaging including content for the university web page and other social media outlets.
• Coordinating the development of promotional materials, such as newsletters and annual reports.
• Managing the enterprise-wide brand strategy and serving as the liaison for all branding efforts.

To qualify for this opportunity, you must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in corporate, agency, education, or non-profit marketing and communications. In addition, you must have:

• A Bachelor's Degree.
• A working knowledge of journalism as well as practices and procedures related to public relations.
• A comprehensive understanding in the use of traditional and new media.
• Knowledge of multiple computer software programs including the Microsoft Office Suite. Prior experience using graphics software is preferred.
• The ability to speak both English and Spanish is preferred, but not required.
