Reporting to the Media Service Manager, the Media Support Representative is directly involved with managing multimedia support for all classroom, conference rooms and media related issues on campus. The Media Support Representative acts as Technical (multimedia) Trainer: develops and implements comprehensive multimedia training curriculum for students, staff and faculty. Work may include media production consultation to help develop rich media productions to support teaching and learning at SMC.

Additionally, the Media Support Representative;

1. Supports and provides services to all media related support responsibilities in regards to classrooms, conference rooms and other multimedia areas on campus. Involved in recruiting, training and managing a staff of student customer service representatives/audio-visual technicians, and ensures that customers of classroom, conferences room and media are satisfied. Responsible for designing and implementing improved processes and operational procedures. Collaborates with other IT Services groups when needed. Recommends changes to products or services to fulfill customer needs. Weighs in on the selection of preferred vendors and contractors to install Media/AV on campus for classrooms and conference room media.

2. Works directly and collaboratively with the Media Services Supervisor and a team of Media Services Student AV technicians in the use, delivery, and maintenance of all Audio Visual equipment on campus, including, but not limited to classroom media support. Works with media/system tools i.e. Jamf, Extron Global Viewer, Apple TV and various software/s. In addition to digital signal processor configuration and firmware updates.

3.Participates in, and conducts technical training programs. Determines training objectives. Writes training programs, including outlines, text, handouts, tests, and designs laboratory exercises. Lectures class on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of audio-visual machinery and equipment, following outline, handouts and texts. Consults client on media production planning and helps train clients to develop rich media productions to support teaching and learning at Saint Mary's College. Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance.

4. Works with management maintaining all AV equipment on campus. Provides input to development of policies, replacement schedules, standard operating procedures for the department.

5. Performs the routine maintenance inspection of all AV equipment.

6. Continually researches media/AV technology to stay up with the industry changes.

Experience and Qualifications:


REQUIRED: BA and/or equivalent training and experience in AV environment
PREFERRED: Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)

Experience: Approximately 5 years direct and related experience.

Skills: Familiar with Jamf, Extron Global Viewer, Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in addition to a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.
