Position Summary
The Department of Music at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking applications for a full-time tenure track faculty member in Music Education/Woodwinds. This is a 9-month tenure-track appointment and includes a competitive salary with full benefits. The successful candidate will teach courses in music education and studio lessons in area of expertise, serving music majors and non-majors at a metropolitan university. The mission of the Music Department is firmly rooted in educating future professional musicians and music teachers, and in the musical education of liberal arts majors. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach courses in music education including woodwind techniques and general music. Mentor student teachers;
Teach private lessons on major instrument;
Participate in auditions, juries, and recital hearings;
Develop syllabi with student-centered learning objectives and assessment criteria;
Produce scholarly works such as performances, master classes, conference presentations, guest clinics, workshops, guest recital appearances, research articles, or other activities based on candidate’s areas of interest and expertise;
Other duties based on candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the department.

The ability to develop and maintain a regional and national profile within the profession;
The ability to actively pursue a research and/or performance agenda commensurate with university standards for promotion and tenure;
The ability to participate in departmental recruiting and service activities as assigned;
The ability to engage collaboratively as a member of the university community.
Required Education and/or Experience
Earned terminal degree in music education, woodwind performance, or other related music degree program. Advanced ABD may be considered if all degree requirements will be completed by August 1, 2019.

Preferred Education and/or Experience
Experience teaching at the post-secondary level. Evidence of a personal commitment to student success initiatives. A successful record of current research or performance and the potential for continuing success. Active membership in appropriate professional music organizations. Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong background in public school music education is desired. Basic knowledge of standard software for academic computing such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
