Position Summary

Under the Manager of Multicultural Affairs' guidance, it oversees activities, projects and programs college-wide initiatives lead or supported by the Office, such as Work Climate, ATD, Strategic Enrollment, and others. This position provides overall support for the Bump Up Minority Male Mentoring Initiative. It provides advising and guidance for students participating in the Bump Up initiative, organizes trainings and connects students with internal and external resources. The position also supports the multicultural center and its activities, supervises student workers and assists in multicultural programming and diversity-related inter-agency events, such as the Southern Nevada Diversity Summit. In collaboration with the Manager of Multicultural Affairs, this position oversees partnerships with national, state and local organizations for scholarships, internship and mentoring programs, e.g. HACU, CHCI, NAACP, Chamber scholars. It coordinates and supports MSI/HSI designation efforts with the CSN Task Force and other key stakeholders. It is also responsible for assisting the Executive Director with Human Resources initiatives and programs and coordinates efforts regarding cultural awareness training, e.g. Diversity Day. This position provides support for the overarching Office goals and activities, and assist in the preparation of internal and external documentation, including reports and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 3 years of related professional work experience (mentoring, student advising and guidance, recruitment or retention, partner engagement, student services, higher administrative position).
• Experience in a coordinating or similar position requiring excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Experience working with students, faculty and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with Higher Education programs.
• Experience engaging students in an academic setting and mentoring toward career goals.
• Clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and disability backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability maintaining databases and reporting data updates.
• Applied knowledge of current software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and basic use of Adobe Suite.
• Ability to adapt to rapid change and respond to tight deadlines on a variety of tasks.
• Experience issuing communications in various software platforms for internal and external partners.
• Flexible schedule: may include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Starting Salary Range

Administrative Faculty Grade C

$58,561 - $67,307
