Job Description

The Department of Art & Design at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design tenure track position to join eight full time faculty teaching in our BFA Graphic Design program. The position begins August 19, 2019. The primary teaching assignment will include undergraduate courses in graphic design based on the applicant's expertise and department need. Additional responsibilities include creative activity/research, curriculum development and participation in program coordination, department and campus service, and student advising.

The Department of Art & Design offers BFA degrees in two Graphic Design emphases (Studio and Marketing), Art Education, and four Studio Art emphases, as well as BA degrees in Art and Art History. The Department of Art & Design is one of five units in UMD's School of Fine Arts, including the Tweed Museum of Art. UMD is located in northeastern Minnesota at the tip of Lake Superior, approximately 165 miles north of Minneapolis. For more about the department and its programs please see

Required Qualifications
- MFA, MDes, or PhD in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or Visual Communication Design from a regionally accredited institution by 7/1/19.
- Demonstrated command of current design software and processes.
- Two years college level teaching experience in a Mac-based lab environment or Mac laptop classroom, which may include TA experience.
- Expertise in user-centered design across a variety of platforms.
