The Electrical Engineering program at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, benefited, tenure-track position in Electrical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, with the anticipated start date of spring 2019 semester. A doctorate in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is required.

The Electrical Engineering program in the ECE department is inviting outstanding applicants with expertise and proven record or who demonstrate exceptional potential for leading a vibrant externally funded scholarly research program in electrical broad engineering areas including, but not limited to, sensors and systems, analog/digital electronic circuits and systems, advanced electronic devices, printed/flexible electronics, electronic materials, fiber optics/photonics and nanotechnology, lasers and plasma engineering and micro and bio electronics. Candidates must have vision in defining their research plan in these rapidly evolving fields. Candidates with exceptional active funded research projects may be considered at the Associate Professor level.

The successful candidate is expected to secure and lead externally funded research and perform scholarly activities, deliver state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical and computer engineering, with an interest or expertise in technology assisted or online teaching, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service activities as assigned.

The ECE department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree BS in Electrical Engineering. The department also offers a MS in Electrical Engineering and is one of the founding members of the new campus professional Master of Engineering program. The ECE Department has research focuses in areas including but not limited to microelectronics, antennas & communications, optimization & controls, sensors, signals & systems, laser photonics and plasmas, non-thermal plasmas, robotics and autonomous systems. The graduate program in electrical engineering is presently ranked 24th among the best electrical engineering programs offered nationwide by CollegeChoice.net.
