Description of Position
The Department of Art and Drama at Northeastern State University is seeking applicants for a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design to teach in an established but growing art program. All applicants must be proficient in the theories and fundamentals of graphic design with a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite on a Macintosh platform. Candidates must be able to teach basic to advanced courses in graphic design.

Primary responsibilities for instructors include teaching undergraduate courses in graphic design (standard teaching load is 4 courses per semester during the Fall and Spring semesters).
Tenure track faculty members have other responsibilities, including advising and mentoring of graphic design majors, promoting the program and recruiting students, and contributing to the department and university through appropriate service.

All applicants must be proficient in the theories and fundamentals of graphic design with a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Macintosh Computer Platform.

Education Requirements
Preference for an MFA in Graphic Design with teaching experience. The terminal degree is required for a tenure-track position. However, we will consider applicants who have an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design with significant work experience in the field for a non-tenure-track, instructor position.

The College of Liberal Arts is the cultural center of the institution; home to art, the performing arts, social sciences, literature, humanities, and the study of languages. Graduates of our programs are employed in responsible jobs throughout the world. The college is based in iconic Seminary Hall. Located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Tahlequah is the capitol of the Cherokee Nation; rich in natural beauty and provides excellent opportunities for outdoor activities. Tahlequah is also a growing city and is an easy one-hour drive to the Tulsa and Northwest Arkansas metropolitan areas.

The Art Program is housed in the Department of Art and Drama. The program offers degrees in Studio Art (2D and 3D), Art Education, and Graphic Design. The degrees are offered on the Tahlequah campus. The program has grown over the past decade, but we continue to offer small classes and provide individual attention to students. Our graduates have been successful, working as teachers, artists, designers, curators, and gallery directors. Many have pursued graduate education around the country and abroad. Our faculty members are award-winning artists who have published and exhibited their work in galleries and museums in the US and in Europe. The program is committed to provdiding a positive and supportive environment for artists to develop their skills and to fulfill their artistic potential.
