Position Title Adjunct Faculty – Music Education
Position Description
The Department of Music Studies (areas: Music Education, Composition, History, and Theory) at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor in Music Education to teach ME188: Instrumental Music: Winds/Percussion (2 credits; MW 6:30-7:30 pm) for the 2024 Fall Semester beginning Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Course Description:

ME188: Instrumental Music: Winds/Percussion (2 credits) MW 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
 
This course is designed as an introduction to the pedagogy of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Emphasis is on learning through performance. Instruments are required. Various methods and materials available for use in public schools, developmental ranges, transposition, scoring and idiomatic writing are investigated. Instruments for student use are provided by the college.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate music education majors the pedagogy of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments
  • Communicate and partner professionally with the Dpt. of Music Studies Faculty

Position Requirements
  • Demonstrated winds/percussion teaching experience
  • Master’s degree in music education or related field
